Fees
Fees & billing
Bulk billing for patients with a valid Medicare or DVA card. Here is what to expect at the front desk, whichever card you hold.
Bulk billed with Medicare or DVA
Consultations are bulk billed for patients presenting a valid Medicare card or Department of Veterans’ Affairs card. There is nothing to pay at the time of your visit.
Patients without a Medicare card
Patients who do not hold a Medicare card but are covered by private health insurance may be eligible for a rebate from their insurer. The full consultation fee is payable on the day, and you then lodge the claim with your provider.
Overseas visitors and students
Overseas visitor and overseas student health cover is accepted on the same basis: payment on the day, then claim from your insurer. Please bring your policy details.

If you do not hold a Medicare card
Patients who do not hold a Medicare card but are covered by private health insurance may be eligible for a rebate through their insurer. Ask reception for a receipt after you pay, and submit it to your insurer. The full amount is payable after your consultation, and you lodge the claim afterwards.
Reception will confirm the cost of any private service before it is provided. Call (02) 9633 4033 or email westmead@theamp.com.au to check a fee in advance.
What to bring
Bring these to every visit
- Your Medicare card, or your DVA card
- Any concession, pension or Health Care Card
- Your private health, overseas visitor or overseas student policy details, if you have no Medicare card
- A current list of your medicines
- Referral letters, scan results or hospital discharge summaries, if you have them
If your Medicare details have changed, whether that is a new card, a new address, or a child moving onto their own card, please let reception know so your claim is not rejected.
